Aston Villa were held to a 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough at Villa Park on Tuesday night and fans were delighted with the performance of one of their key players on social media following the game.

The draw was enough for Steve Bruce’s side to book their spot at Wembley Stadium, where they will meet Fulham for a place in the Premier League next season.

The Villans took a slim advantage into the game with them when Mile Jedinak scored the only goal of the clash and they held their opponents to a stalemate in the second leg.

The home side dominated the two-legged affair and would have been considered the deserved winners over the duration of the tie, however, things could have been different for Bruce’s men.

Sam Johnstone could have been shown a red card by Mike Dean in the final moments of the game when he handled the ball outside the penalty box but the referee decided John Terry could have been able to get around and gave the goalkeeper a yellow instead.

Fans were disappointed with the lack of action during the game with Middlesbrough, however, they will be ecstatic with the result and will not care about the way their team had played as they head to the National Stadium.

Supporters were delighted with the performance of Jedinak over the two matches, with many believing the Australia international was the difference and praised his display in their masses.

The 33-year-old has become a fan favourite at Villa Park since joining them from Crystal Palace on a free transfer last summer and has proven to be a key signing for Bruce’s quest for Premier League.
