Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Oxford United winger Marvin Johnson, according to The Birmingham Mail.
The 26-year-old has been linked with West Midlands sides Birmingham City, West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers as well as attracting the attention of Stoke City, Derby County and Reading.
Johnson has scored five goals and produced five assists in 38 games so far this season, having made appearances as a left-back for half of those matches.
It is believed that the Claret and Blues are keen to bring the wideman to Villa Park but will face competition from the other six clubs in the race.
Villa, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, have struggled to stay competitive in the Championship.
Having won just 11 out of their 36 fixtures, the Lions will be looking for serious improvements to their squad for a chance to be promoted in the future.
