Aston Villa have tabled a dramatic €32m transfer deadline day bid for Sevilla forward Wissam Ben Yedder, according to reports on social media.

A source close to the Spanish outfit has revealed that Villa have made a late approach for the French international, as they aim to finalise their transfer dealings ahead of the Premier League season.

Dean Smith has overhauled his squad following their return to the top flight, and it seems as though it could be a dramatic transfer deadline day for the club.

Ben Yedder would be a huge coup for Villa if they could shock the market and pull off this incredible signing, however they face huge competition for his signature.

With the 28-year-old making it clear that he wants to depart Sevilla, some of Europe’s biggest clubs have been circling as they aim to benefit on his decision to take up a new challenge.

Villa will have to fend off Premier League counterparts Manchester United if they are to land Ben Yedder, while Monaco have emerged as favourites to sign the striker before today’s 5pm deadline.

Last season, the Sevilla striker finished the campaign with an incredible tally of 29 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions, earning himself a call up to the French National side.

In total, Ben Yedder has netted 66 times in his 131 outings for the Spanish outfit, and if Villa are to complete the move they would smash their record transfer fee for the second time this summer, following the signing of Brazilian forward Wesley Moraes.

While the fee is considered huge, his arrival at Villa Park would be a massive statement of intent as they aim to secure their place in the Premier League for many years to come.

Ben Yedder would arrive with experience of European competition and 135 goals to his name, having featured 161 times and found the net in 69 occasions for Toulouse prior to his move to Sevilla in 2016.
