Rice has already become a Republic of Ireland under-21 international despite his young age and is being tipped to have a promising Premier League career.
Slaven Bilic gave the young centre-half a chance to feature in the first team during pre-season and is said to be a big fan of the young Irish star.
However, West Ham could face a battle to hold onto the teenage sensation, with Arsenal scouts believed to have come back to the North London side with glowing scout reports on Rice.
The Irons have a stellar youth system and a host of young starlets are set to vie for a place in the first team in coming years.
