Arsenal round off the Premier League weekend on Monday evening when they make the trip to face Sheffield United, and they could have two men back from injury for the game.
The Gunners have made a decent start to the season, with the only loss they have suffered so far coming away to Liverpool, and so good has been their opening eight matches, that a victory at Bramall Lane will move them third in the table.
Arsenal traditionally have not been as strong as they would have liked on their travels in recent seasons, but they have the chance to pick up three points at Sheffield United, a side who have lost their last three on their own patch.
The Gunners will make the trip up the M1 unbeaten in their last five matches, but they are about to embark on a heavy schedule, with them competing over three competitions in the next few weeks.
With that in mind, Arsenal will be boosted by the potential returns from injury of Alexandre Lacazette and Kieran Tierney, both of whom are expected to travel to Bramall Lane and could be involved, as manager Unai Emery confirmed ahead of the contest.
He began by giving the latest status on the French forward, who is now back in training after a period out.
“Today is his first training back with us. He finished it well and he’s feeling well with his injuries.” The Arsenal official website quote him as saying.
“Tomorrow we will be training again and he will be with us. We will decide. The most important thing is that first he is training, then secondly it’s whether he can be with us and it depends how he can feel in the next days training with us, whether his ankle is not giving him any more problems. It’s positive for us that he’s started training and that he’s a possibility for Monday. I don’t know whether he’s ready for 90 minutes or on the bench. We’ll decide that over the next days, but it’s very important for him to come back to training with us.”
The Gunners boss was then asked about Tierney, where the prognosis was a lot stronger regarding the left-back.
“He’s ready to play. Now we have two options in that left-back role with Sead Kolasinac and him. We’re going to play a lot of matches after Monday. We will need every player. It depends how he comes into the first training with us, Sead, after his international matches. We now have two players in that position and we can use one on Monday, it depends how they are, one or the other.”
