Arsenal have suffered a blow ahead of their Premier League game against Southampton next weekend, as reported by ArseBlog.
The Gunners will have to make do without the services of Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis for the game against the Saints after the duo picked up yellow cards during the club’s 1-0 victory against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
The Arsenal duo both picked up their fifth yellow card of the campaign against the Terriers, which means that they have to serve a one-match suspension.
Sokratis received a caution for a foul while Mustafi picked up a yellow card for diving.
The German also had to leave the pitch during the second half after picking up an hamstring strain and it is uncertain as to whether the Arsenal defender will be out of action for the entire festive period.
With Rob Holding having also picked up an injury recently, Unai Emery may have to think carefully about what he does in central defence against the Saints.
Nacho Monreal and Laurent Koscielny are both available for Arsenal but both are lacking match fitness after recently overcoming injuries themselves.
The Gunners continued their good form and extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 21 games following the victory against Town.
Most neutrals would have expected Emery’s Arsenal side to easily win the game against Huddersfield but they were made to work hard and the only goal of the game came during the 83rd minute from Lucas Torreira.
