Arsenal “like” Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham though they are currently not in advanced talks to sign him, according to reliable transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Gunners finished eighth in the Premier League next season and need to bolster virtually every area of their squad if they want to re-establish themselves as Champions League material, let alone as a solid top-six club.
Arsenal are on a rebuilding phase and so is Abraham who scored just six Premier League goals last season, a frustrating return.
All of Chelsea’s three main strikers from last season- Timo Werner, Olivier Giroud and Abraham did not score on a regular basis. With Giroud now having moved to AC Milan, there is a good chance that Blues boss Thomas Tuchel will look to bring in a new striker this summer so that his side can potentially challenge for the Premier League title next season.
If a new striker arrives at Stamford Bridge, Abraham will likely slip even further down the pecking order at the club.
While Arsenal may not be able to offer Abraham Champions League football next season, they will be offering him increased chances of regular game-time, something that he needs if he wants to try and win selection to the England squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Despite his lack of success last season, Abraham is capable of churning out match winning displays, as he showed when he scored 18 goals in all competitions in the 2019/2020 season.
Abraham could potentially flourish under the management of Mikel Arteta and the 23-year-old needs a change of environment at this stage of his career.
