Premier League sides Arsenal and Liverpool are on stand-by after Jose Mourinho’s recent comments about defensive pair Luke Shaw and Chris Smalling, according to The Mirror.
The Red Devils boss questioned the commitment of the England international duo after both pulled out of their side’s clash with Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium last weekend.

Mourinho admitted that he wanted his players to play through pain, but both Smalling and Shaw made themselves unavailable for the fixture.
The latest report suggests that the duo will not be short of suitors should the Portuguese coach freeze them out at Old Trafford.
The likelihood of United selling either player to Liverpool seems slim, but there is little doubt that Shaw would be an excellent option in the Anfield outfit’s troublesome left-back position.
Arsenal meanwhile have bought Danny Welbeck from the Red Devils in the past.
Having signed Shkodran Mustafi in the summer the Gunners have plenty of options at centre-half but again may view Shaw as a potential long-term replacement for Nacho Monreal.
It will be interesting to see if the England international left-back is restored for Mourinho’s team for United’s next game, against Arsenal, while Smalling is out for a month after breaking a toe.
