Arsenal forward Lucas Perez is facing up to six weeks out after picking up an injury in Tuesday’s game against Reading, The Guardian are reporting.

The 28-year-old limped off during his side’s League Cup victory and it has now been confirmed that he has damaged his ankle.

The potential six-week layoff will mean that the Spanish forward will miss the North London derby against bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur, the club’s away game with Manchester United and their home clash with Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Arsenal bought Perez for around £17million from Deportivo La Coruna over the summer.

Arsene Wenger gave the Spaniard a place in the starting XI against Reading after he scored twice and got an assist against Nottingham Forest in the previous round.

Perez has so far made six appearances for the club, including the Gunners’ 6-0 thrashing of Ludogorets in the Champions League, when he got two assists.

His top-flight debut came against a 2-1 home win Southampton at the Emirates Stadium and he has played in two more games in the competition since then.
