Arsenal were knocked out of the Europa League on Thursday night by Atletico Madrid and fans on social media were far from happy with what they saw from some of their players.

The defeat ended any hopes that Arsene Wenger would be able to finish his 22-year association with the Emirates Stadium outfit with a trophy and instead he would finish the season away to Huddersfield Town.

The Gunners would have already known their night was going to be tough, with the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium proving to be a hostile environment for any side to visit, with the last away goal to be conceded back in January.

In a game that was largely end-to-end, both sides had their opportunities to take the initiative, and it was Atletico who took full advantage.

Former Chelsea striker Diego Costa put the sword into the north London’s heart once again as he scored the only goal of the game to help take Madrid to the Europa League final in Lyon to face Olympique de Marseille.

Arsenal fans were disappointed with the result and some took to Twitter to share their opinions on a number of their player’s performances, with one man standing out more than others.

Hector Bellerin was singled out by supporters on Twitter, with many believing he had a poor game and put in a shocking display over the second leg. The defender was considered to be at fault for the goal as he allowed Costa to get in behind him and have a one-on-one opportunity with David Ospina.

Here are some of their reactions:
