The agent of Denis Zakaria has confirmed that the Arsenal and Manchester United target will not be leaving Borussia Monchengladbach in January.
The Premier League pair have both been linked with a move for the Swiss midfielder, but they may be forced to look elsewhere if the claims are true.
Arsenal are in the hunt for a deep lying player in the centre of the park after the recent fallout between captain Granit Xhaka and the Emirates Stadium faithful, a move which leaves the Switzerland international seemingly with no way back for the Gunners.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be looking at a number of areas of his squad in January, with the aim of continuing to strengthen, as he bids to get the Red Devils back among the elite of English football once again.
Zakaria would look a good fit for both clubs, but it appears that he is not going anywhere anytime soon, which is a blow to the plans of both outfits.
It is believed that Arsenal tried to prize Monchengladbach into selling, by offering Xhaka as part of a deal for the Switzerland international, but that doesn’t look to have made much of an impression.
The agent of Zakaria, Mathieu Beda, confirmed his client is going nowhere in January, and went on to explain why that is the case.
‘Denis will not leave Borussia in the winter, a change is 100 per cent excluded.’ Bild quote him as saying.
‘Denis is in very good shape in Gladbach and has been playing really well for weeks, but he still has more potential and he wants to show that in Gladbach now instead of dealing with a change.’
It is not yet known whether that will be the end of the Arsenal and Manchester United chase for the man with 24 caps for Switzerland, but it could lead them to turning their attentions elsewhere if they want to fill their voids in January.
