Former Leicester City star Danny Simpson is set to join Glasgow Celtic on trial, according to a report published by the Scottish Sun.
The 32-year-old is currently a free agent after leaving the Foxes at the end of the past season.
Reported Celtic target Simpson was phased out by Leicester during the past campaign as he went on to make just six Premier League appearances.
The veteran made 132 appearances for Leicester across a five-year spell. He was one of the stars of the 2015-16 Premier League-winning Foxes side as he went on to make 30 appearances during that campaign.
Simpson may be past his prime but he could still have what it takes to succeed in Scotland at Celtic.
The Bhoys are in need of a new right-back this summer. Simpson’s past Premier League experience means that he should be good enough to serve the club well.
The Hoops have so far made three signings in Christopher Jullien, Boli Bolingoli and Luca Connell.
They will have to bolster their side. Celtic may have dominated Scottish football for the best part of the last decade but could face a strong test from Rangers next season who are set to get even better under the guidance of Steven Gerrard.
Simpson’s potential move to Celtic would block the progress of young players such as Anthony Ralston, but with immediate silverware in mind the ex-Leicester man could do a job for Neil Lennon’s men.
