West Ham United went down 3-1 to Arsenal at the London Stadium on Monday evening, and after the match fans poured onto social media to demand the sacking of manager Manuel Pellegrini.
The Hammers have been flattering to deceive near enough since the season started, and if anything they look to be getting worse as it goes along, despite a recent victory over Chelsea papering over a few cracks.
Ironically, West Ham were actually in control against Arsenal for long periods on Monday night, and were in front before half time, when Angelo Ogbonna nodded home from a corner, with the help of a deflection.
At this time, the Gunners looked as bleak as could be, with the Hammers expected to go on and put their weak looking opponents to the sword, however things did not pan out like that after the break.
Arsenal scored three goals in a matter of 10 minutes as West Ham completely collapsed from a period of dominance, to one of serious worry, given that the loss leaves them just a point above the drop zone, heading into a huge clash with Southampton on Saturday evening.
Hammers fans are under no illusions who is to blame for the shambles their season has turned into, and while many are not forgetting the role the board have played in it, the buck seems to stop with Pellegrini as far as many are concerned.
The manner in which West Ham capitulated from seemingly cruising the match to getting nowhere near winning it, would suggest there are deep rooted problems at the London Stadium, ones which supporters believe can be rectified by the sacking of the Chilean.
Plenty of those Hammers fans took to Twitter after the final whistle to call for the head of the experienced manager.
