Celtic moved to within one win of another Scottish Cup title on Sunday afternoon, when they brushed Aberdeen aside 3-0 at Hampden Park in the second semi-final of the competition.

If we are to assume that the Bhoys will convert their significant advantage in the Scottish Premiership into a title winning campaign, Neil Lennon’s men are effectively now just one win away from an incredible treble treble being secured.

These are wonderful days for Celtic, despite a number of clubs looking to challenge them this term. There was a time earlier in the season when the gap between the Glasgow giants and the rest had looked to have been narrowed, but this semi-final suggested otherwise.

You got the feeling that from the time James Forrest put the Bhoys ahead on the stroke of half time with a stunning opener, the tie was over as a contest as Aberdeen, without a number of key players to be fair to them, never truly looked like getting back into things.

The gloss was added to the scoreline by Odsonne Edouard and Tom Rogic in the second half, either side of the Dons having a second player sent off to kill any chances they had of attempting to level proceedings.

Given that Celtic have lost their manager and had plenty of key injuries to deal with this season, were they to land another treble it would be a remarkable achievement.

One of the reasons why that is still possible has been the wonderful performances of Forrest. The Scotland international has taken his game up a level this term, and that has been recognised by the Bhoys’ faithful.

Many of them shot onto social media after the final whistle at Hampden to reflect on their star man and discuss what he brings to the side.
