Former Tottenham Hotspur star Clive Allen has urged Gareth Bale to return to the North London side, as he would be able to bring “something that no one else can” for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
“I would, yeah. I would because I think he could provide something that no one else can” he said as quoted by Goal.
“That is something you can never underestimate, you add a player of that ability to your team, it’s not only a talent but it lifts everybody else in the club as well.”
Bale left Tottenham to join Los Blancos during the summer of 2013 for a then world-record fee.
The former Spurs man has since won virtually everything that there is to win in Spanish football as well as the Champions League.
He has however since fallen out of favour with the Los Blancos fans and was strongly linked with an exit over the summer, but this did not end up materialising.
Tottenham fans are largely mixed about the thought of potentially re-signing Bale.
The player is only 30-years-old and can still churn out match-winning displays for another four years.
However, there are issues pertaining to his worth ethic and salary demands.
If Tottenham did indeed sign Bale, it would be an unusual signing for them.
The Lilywhites generally target younger talent and do not usually sign player who are over the age of 30.
In addition to this, Tottenham would also have to pay him an hefty salary, something which the club chairman Daniel levy may not agree to.
There are very few clubs which will likely be able to afford Bale’s salary, hence if he does leave Madrid soon, there is a high chance that his next destination will be to a club in China or the United Arab Emirates.
Tottenham are perhaps better off not signing him and should look at younger talent.
