Borussia Dortmund Sporting Director Michael Zorc has claimed that the agent of Jadon Sancho met with Manchester United officials during the summer transfer window.

“A hot topic right now is Sancho and Manchester United,” Zorc said in the Amazon Prime documentary ‘Inside Borussia Dortmund’.

“Both his discussions with the club and mine with the agent, a meeting did take place. Manchester United invited the agent.

“According to what I know, the agent told the club that no matter how much money they offer, we won’t let him go this summer.

“The player also has no intention of taking that step this summer [2019].”

After bursting onto the first-team scene at Dortmund last season, Sancho has established himself as one of the brightest young talents in Europe. He has since been linked with a potential move to Manchester United as well as to other leading clubs across Europe.

The youngster has since gone on to make more than 60 appearances for the Bundesliga giants, scoring 17 goals as well as recording 27 assists. He has also become an important part of the England national team under Gareth Southgate and is destined to be included in the Three Lions side which will compete in the European Championships next year.

Sancho shone for England during their 5-3 victory over Kosovo on Tuesday night as he bagged a brace.

Due to his exploits, Sancho would have definitely attracted attention from the most elite clubs in World football. Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke also claimed in August that his team had rejected an offer from a super-club for the player earlier this year.

At the rate that Sancho is going, he is bound to leave Dortmund at some point. While the Bundesliga club has allowed him to develop into a world-class player, he will likely have to leave at some point if he wishes to win trophies on a regular basis.

Dortmund are a good side but are unlikely to challenge for the Champions League anytime soon.
